Job Description
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: with high-level goals provided, leads teams to create designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems of moderate to high complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on completed designs. Performs studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Serve as Regional Team Leader. This includes overseeing junior engineers (including performance review); ensuring team member are trained and compliant with QA/QC and health safety procedures; supporting career progress for team members and coordinating workload. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations, and best practices. Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs. Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Acts as the primary point of contact for external client and related industry contact. Collaborates with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions provides updates to project management as necessary. This position is hybrid; may work from home up to 2 days per week, as permitted.
Salary range for this position is $136,947.00 - $239,699.00 per year.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and at least 12 years of experience as a Electrical Engineer or in a related role. In the alternative, at least a master's degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and at least 11 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a related role would be acceptable.
At least 11 years of experience with computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) software and practices
At least 11 years of experience designing electrical systems for water, wastewater, and industrial facilities
At least 11 years of experience with SKM, ETAP and Aspen Power System Tools software
At least 5 years of experience performing power studies, designs, and commissioning of high voltage substations.
