Job Title: Database Administrator / Architect

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator / Architect to design, implement, manage, and optimize enterprise database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database architecture, administration, performance tuning, security, high availability, disaster recovery, and data management.

The candidate will collaborate with application developers, cloud engineers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure database reliability, scalability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance database architectures.

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain database management systems.

• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot complex database issues.

• Perform query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

• Develop and implement backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster-recovery strategies.

• Manage database security, user access, permissions, encryption, and compliance requirements.

• Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, patching, and version management.

• Implement database monitoring, automation, and maintenance procedures.

• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve database design and application performance.

• Establish database standards, best practices, documentation, and operational procedures.

• Troubleshoot production incidents and provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Evaluate database technologies and recommend appropriate solutions based on business requirements.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in database administration and architecture.

• Experience with one or more database platforms, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.

• Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.

• Experience with backup, recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.

• Knowledge of database security, access management, and performance monitoring.

• Experience with database upgrades, patching, migrations, and production support.

• Strong SQL skills and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or SQL scripting.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora, Azure SQL, Azure Database services, or Google Cloud databases.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and database automation tools.

• Experience with large-scale, high-availability enterprise database environments.

• Relevant database certifications are an advantage.
