Job Opportunity: Project/Program Manager (Non-IT)

Duration: 12 Months (Contract with extension potential)

Location: On-site (5 days/week) – Peoria, IL or Chicago, IL

Role Overview

We are looking for a high-level Project/Program Manager to join the team. This role bridges the gap between technical development and business execution, focusing on back-end technical features and multi-team coordination. Unlike a standard Scrum Master, this position manages high-level features and integration across 5 to 15 different teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Coordination: Work with technical leads to plan design, output, and integration for back-end software projects.
Execution & Delivery: Drive the completion of work, manage target dates, and facilitate business sign-off.
Agile Leadership: Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives within a locked-in Agile process.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain Microsoft Project Plans, document work in Azure DevOps, and manage data-heavy project reporting.
Blocker Removal: Act as a champion for removing impediments to keep the engineering community moving forward.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience: 5–7 years of professional Project/Program Management (this is a senior execution role, not a training position).
PM Tools: Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, or Azure DevOps (Jira is acceptable if adaptable).
Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of the SDLC, specifically back-end software, APIs, and data services.
Education: 4-year degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Certifications: PMP or Scrum Master certification is highly preferred.

Soft Skills

Self-Driven: Ability to initiate and manage tasks independently without daily direction.
Influencer: Strong meeting facilitation skills with the ability to influence others without direct authority.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for navigating numerous stakeholders.

Top Requirements / Disqualifiers

Must Have: Extensive knowledge of project management software (MS Project/Primavera).
Red Flags: Candidates with no direct PM experience or lack of software proficiency will not be considered.
Environment: Must be comfortable with a full-time, 5-day on-site schedule.
