This role will provide experienced, technical, organizational and design support to the Structural and Civil Engineering Group. Work associated with this assignment will be directly related to design project assignments for substation structures, transmission line structures, foundations, and site designs as they affect the transmission system, with the primary responsibility of coordinating project information, design information, drawings, and documentation between company, external engineering, structural materials, and construction vendors.
This hybrid position is a one-year renewable contract that includes employee benefits! If this opportunity is well-aligned with your experience and goals, we would love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities for Civil / Structural Engineering Technician:

Vendor Data Transfer: Facilitate the secure electronic transfer of design criteria, engineering data, and existing drawings (such as Bill of Materials and erection/detail drawings) to outside vendors per established procedures.
Drawing & Database Management: Process, index, and track vendor-submitted drawings and documents using databases like ProjectWise, SharePoint, and other electronic or paper systems.
Vendor Review System Support: Assist in administering the vendor drawing review system by maintaining user permissions/workflows, supporting Design/QA engineers, and flagging conflicts between specs and manufacturer drawings to facilitate federal resolution.
Standards & Process Improvement: Recommend standards for manufacturer drawings, develop enhanced tracking tools for TELD programs, and input data into the Tower Steel System (TSS).
Material & Cataloging Support: Create material requests for federal approval, research manufacturer drawing issues for repairs, and assist in creating/maintaining standard structure catalog IDs in Asset Suite and the Materials Catalog.
Design & Document Production: Support capital project designs using CAD/MicroStation; complete and produce final design packages to be submitted for federal review and approval; and adapt standard guides to address unique project situations.
Project Coordination & Studies: Coordinate with design engineers to validate project locations, prepare and process material requests using BES/Asset Suite for authorized federal signature/approval, process post-construction as-built revisions, and provide technical support for complex design studies (e.g., drainage crossings, bridges, structures).
Engineering Facilitation: Assist with design activities, draft research-backed reports, and format presentations using Microsoft Office tools.
Drawing Conversion & Archival: Prepare, revise, and distribute design files across MicroStation CAD and ProjectWise. Convert legacy hard-copy drawings to electronic formats, verifying all compiled data for completeness and accuracy.
Requirements/Qualifications for Civil / Structural Engineering Technician:
A degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a directly related field is preferred.
1-year engineering technician experience; with ability to demonstrate proficiency for a wide range of project tasks.
