Job Description:
We are seeking a Voice Systems Engineer to help administer, support, and enhance our enterprise voice environment across multiple locations. This role focuses on ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of our Avaya‐based voice systems. In addition, the engineer will support and advance our Twilio platform through projects and integrations that meet evolving business needs.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with VoIP, SIP trunking, and telecom providers, along with a solid understanding of voice‐related security risks and controls. They enjoy collaborating with infrastructure and security teams and actively seek opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve operational processes, including MACDs, monitoring, and ServiceNow workflows. Clear communication, strong customer service skills, and a desire to continue growing technically in the voice engineering space are key to success in this role.
This is an in‐person role based in Owatonna, MN. Due to our collaborative, fast‐paced work environment, remote or hybrid options are not available.
Responsibilities
- Configure and administer secure enterprise voice systems across multiple locations
- Administer and integrate Twilio services, including messaging/voice APIs, following security best practices
- Implement and maintain voice security controls, including privileged access management and encryption
- Automate routine MACDs (Moves, Adds, Changes, Deletes) to streamline workflows
- Manage and upgrade hardware and software
- Maintain and refine management, monitoring, alerting, and security logging functions
- Manage incidents and requests in ServiceNow and develop workflow improvements
- Maintain voice systems and security-related documentation
- Collaborate with SIP carriers and other telecom providers on provisioning and support
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
Qualifications
- Four-year degree with a preferred major in a computer or mathematics-related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on experience administering and supporting Avaya Enterprise or other on-Prem enterprise voice system in a production, on‐prem or hybrid environment
- Experience with VoIP and SIP trunking, including troubleshooting call quality, signaling, or connectivity issues with carriers
- Understanding of, and experience with, the following concepts:
- Working with outside vendors, SIP carriers, and telecom service providers
- ServiceNow (incident/request management and workflow development)
- Twilio administration, integrations, and API-based messaging/voice services
- Analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Desire to learn and grow professionally, including staying current on voice enterprise and security knowledge and industry standards
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
