Job Description:
Senior Civil 3D Designer

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil 3D Designer to join a growing engineering team supporting large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for developing engineering drawings and 3D design models for grading, drainage, paving, and roadway systems using Autodesk Civil 3D. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience producing detailed civil designs from conceptual engineering through construction deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare civil design drawings and models for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Produce complete civil design packages from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through Issued for Construction (IFC) phases.
  • Create and maintain detailed Civil 3D models, including subassemblies, corridors, alignments, profiles, and feature lines.
  • Generate grading surfaces and earthwork calculations to support accurate material quantity and volume takeoffs.
  • Develop, implement, and manage Civil 3D templates, code sets, and drafting standards.
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive civil design packages that align with project requirements and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate design inputs and maintain overall design quality.
  • Perform quality reviews of models and drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Design grading, drainage, paving, and roadway systems using Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Continuously improve design workflows and modeling techniques to support efficient project execution and delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate degree, drafting certificate, or additional coursework in drafting/design is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of civil design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and GeoPak is a plus.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Civil 3D preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience creating and managing:
    • Alignments
    • Profiles and Profile Views
    • Assemblies
    • Corridors
    • Automatic Labeling
    • Section Views and Cross Sections
Preferred Experience
  • Industrial facility, heavy civil, energy, utility, or infrastructure project experience.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering design standards and construction documentation.
  • Experience supporting projects through all phases of engineering and construction.
Work Environment

This position includes work in both office and field environments. Occasional site visits may be required, including industrial facilities and active construction sites. Candidates should be comfortable working around equipment, varying noise levels, and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
