Job Description:

Pay Range: $40.41hr - $45.41hr

The Downstream Purification Scientist will be responsible for executing and optimizing purification processes for viral vectors and related biologics.
This role involves hands-on operation of chromatography systems, ultracentrifugation, and tangential flow filtration (TFF) while supporting process development and documentation in compliance with GMP/GLP standards.
The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure high-quality purification and product characterization.

Responsibilities:

Execute purification processes including CsCl density gradient ultracentrifugation, affinity chromatography (AVB, CaptureSelect), ion-exchange chromatography (AEX, CEX), and polishing steps.
Operate AKTA systems (Avant, Pure, or Pilot) for small- to large-scale purification runs.
Perform TFF operations for buffer exchange and concentration of intermediate or final products.
Support experimental design, data collection, and documentation following established procedures and GMP/GLP best practices.
Troubleshoot and optimize purification processes as needed.
Analyze in-process and purified samples using analytical methods such as UV, SDS-PAGE, ddPCR, ELISA, and HPLC.
Collaborate with upstream, analytical, and manufacturing teams.
Maintain laboratory equipment, prepare buffers, manage column inventory, and ensure compliance with safety and documentation standards.

Requirement/Must Have:

Master s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
Minimum 2+ years of hands-on purification experience in academic or industry settings.
Strong knowledge and practical experience with CsCl density gradient ultracentrifugation.
Experience with ion-exchange and affinity chromatography techniques.
Hands-on experience operating AKTA systems.
Experience performing TFF operations.
Familiarity with buffer preparation and analytical characterization methods.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Should Have:

Experience with AAV or other viral vector purification processes.
Experience using Unicorn software with AKTA systems.
Experience working in GMP-regulated environments.
Strong troubleshooting and process optimization skills.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

Qualification And Education:

Master s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field required.
