Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 3 to support an enterprise application/software development initiative. The selected candidate will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, helping analyze legacy systems, identify inefficiencies, document business needs, and translate requirements into actionable technical solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business analysis, data analysis, requirements gathering, process documentation, stakeholder communication, and User Acceptance Testing. Experience with project management and PMP certification is considered a strong plus.

Level Description

The Business Analyst 3 must have 8 or more years of experience and should be able to independently perform complex tasks with minimal supervision. This role requires strong judgment, creativity, and the ability to plan and accomplish goals in a structured and effective manner.

The candidate should also have at least 5 years of experience serving as a liaison between business teams and IT teams, including architecture, project delivery, application support, and technology stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs. This includes formulating system solutions that align with overall business strategies and supporting modernization efforts for legacy systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze current legacy systems and identify process inefficiencies, gaps, and areas for improvement.

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, program teams, project teams, and technical teams to gather and document business requirements.

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, surveys, and working sessions to understand business needs.

  • Translate business needs and abstract ideas into structured documentation, including Business Requirements Documents and Functional Requirements Documents.

  • Create use cases, process maps, and current-state versus future-state workflow documentation.

  • Support business process reengineering and identify new technology solutions to improve business effectiveness.

  • Prepare solution options, identify risks, and support financial analysis such as cost-benefit analysis, ROI, and buy-versus-build evaluation.

  • Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify applications.

  • Manage scope by negotiating requirement trade-offs and setting clear expectations regarding timelines, costs, and deliverables.

  • Participate in the testing phase by creating test cases and supporting User Acceptance Testing.

  • Ensure the final solution meets documented business requirements and stakeholder expectations.

  • Serve as a central point of communication between users, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.


Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience analyzing legacy systems, identifying inefficiencies, and translating business needs into actionable technical solutions.

  • 8+ years of experience working with program and project teams to document requirements and support User Acceptance Testing.

  • Strong experience creating Business Requirements Documents and Functional Requirements Documents.

  • Strong understanding of business process mapping, process improvement, and business process reengineering.

  • Experience gathering requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, and stakeholder meetings.

  • Ability to develop use cases and clearly document current-state and future-state processes.

  • Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments with a high degree of creativity and judgment.

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Skills

  • 8+ years of experience translating abstract ideas into structured business requirements.

  • Strong data analysis experience, including the ability to analyze raw data and identify trends, gaps, and insights.

  • Project management experience.

  • PMP certification is a strong plus.

  • Experience supporting large-scale application modernization or legacy system replacement projects.


Work Location and Schedule

The primary work location is Austin, TX 78751, and this is an onsite position. Services will generally be provided during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays.

The candidate may be required to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed and pre-approved.

Any travel, lodging, parking, per diem, or relocation-related expenses will be the responsibility of the candidate and/or vendor unless otherwise pre-approved in writing.
