Genesis10 is currently seeking a Core Java Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This role is for a Core Java Engineer within the Equities Technology group, which brings together Electronic Trading Technologies and High Touch trading platforms. The engineer will design and implement end-to-end solutions for low latency Order Management applications, analyze requirements across markets, and develop low-latency, high-throughput Core Java applications. As a senior developer, the role involves contributing to architecture and driving engineering excellence, including the use of GenAI and Copilot tools to improve productivity.
Responsibilities: - Design and develop complex requirements to accomplish business goals
- Ensure that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements
- Ensure solutions are well designed with maintainability, ease of integration, and testing built-in from the outset
- Contribute to story refinement and defining requirements
- Participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
- Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Code solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Design, develop, or modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
- Set up and develop a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline
- Mentor other Software Engineers on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack
Requirements: - In-depth understanding of core Java APIs (collections, concurrency, nio, etc)
- Extensive understanding and proven industrial experience with multithreaded systems
- Working knowledge of the Java garbage collector and familiarity with low latency IO
- AI First approach
- Automation first mindset across the software development lifecycle, particularly around shift-left testing
- Practical experience within an Electronic Trading environment in an investment bank or similar
- Experience with test-driven development, UML, and OO design
- Experience with Eclipse/IntelliJ, Jenkins, Git, TeamCity, Gradle and continuous build servers
- Knowledge of FIX (heart-beating, login, sequence numbers, message types etc)
- In-depth experience of sockets and understanding of network connectivity
- Demonstrable experience of front office system design and architecture
- Experience with Order Management systems, including analytics
- Experience with Spring framework: Spring Boot, Java, Transactional backend development
- Knowledge in architecting applications for Cloud and/or Containerized Environments
- Practical, hands-on experience with Agile and test-driven development

Pay range: $58.26 - $66.26 per hour
