JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: MS Dynamics Solution Architect
DURATION: Long term
Location: Boston, MA


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deep domain knowledge on Dynamics 365 technologies including: Power Platform, Disaster Recovery, Long Term Data Retention, Synapse, Fabric, Snowflake, Power Pages, Cloud Flows, Application Lifecycle Management, Solution Segmentation, Power BI, CDP/Customer Insights, App Insights etc.
  • Regularly meets with engineering teams to understand and capture current IT application assets such as deployable containers, technologies in use, network and infrastructure configuration, etc.
  • Conducts technical analysis for a defined scope of work, including technology research, learning various tool capabilities, reading technical documentation, internal analysis to understand gaps, vendor communication to verify the capabilities, etc.
  • Builds or participates in building POCs (Proof of Concept) to demonstrate the suggested pattern, architecture, or approach as a prototype. Comfortable with rolling up the sleeves and working with engineers to help deliver a complex/critical project in need of the architect's close guidance.
  • Produces technical documentation, including architecture definition documents, IT systems implementation guides, process diagrams, data models, systems integration maps, technology catalogs, etc.
  • Works with engineering teams to ensure adherence to agreed-upon guidelines, including via general collaboration or formal architecture reviews. Able to communicate on a code level, describing components, deployable containers, database schemas, cloud workload elements, etc.
  • Identifies and timely communicates gaps, risks, resource constraints, and technology limitations. Reports on schedule and product progress as often as daily or as agreed. Effectively communicates relevant project information to the management team. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
  • Works with or comfortably communicates about Microsoft technologies such as programming languages, .NET, Azure, and other related toolsets.
  • Where appropriate, guides their managers in reviewing different project requests, timelines, and costs to explain gaps, expectations, limitations, or non-compliance of systems, business, or technology architectures.
  • Collaborates with business owners and other relevant parties to fully understand, define and document functional requirements for the system and/or process changes to meet evolving business needs, including oversight of process flow diagrams, user interface mock-ups, and conceptual design.
  • Reviews all functional and technical specifications before initial development to ensure that recommended solutions are consistent with related functionality within the appropriate application(s).
  • Reviews test scripts as part of all functional specifications to ensure that testing occurs to meet all business requirements, including all process components as well as client, center, and program configurations.
  • Ensures that feedback from key business owners is fully acknowledged and incorporated into functional and technical specifications, process flow diagrams, and project plans as appropriate.
  • Serves as a communication bridge between the development teams and the Enterprise Architecture function to facilitate initial understanding of requirements, questions, and changes across these groups.
  • Participates in several cross-LOB (Line of Business) initiatives, which are time-bound and require cross-functional communication with Enterprise Architecture leadership, Solution Architects, Software Engineers, internal business representatives, Project Managers, and Vendors.
  • At least 10 years of experience is required, including 5 years of experience in application development, 5 years of experience in Application Architecture, Solution Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Systems Integration Architecture, or a mix of two or more listed areas and at least 3 years experience as Enterprise Architect.

 

Additional Job Requirements

  • Experience in Enterprise Architecture and familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks are required. TOGAF certificates and practical knowledge are desirable.
  • A software engineering background is required to communicate effectively with engineering teams. A good understanding of at least one programming language and one scripting language is required among C#, Java, JavaSrcript, T-SQL, and PL-SQL.
  • Solid knowledge and experience are required in Application Architecture, Solution Architecture, Systems Integration, or Cloud Computing to comfortably communicate with various architects within the organization on various matters and drive digital transformation activities.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation is required for producing architecture definition documents, UML diagrams, and process workflow diagrams such as activity and state charts.
  • Cloud architecture experience based on industry and vendor best practices is required, preferably Azure with Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework principles.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple parallel tasks and assigned projects in a high-pressure environment and react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in confidential matters such as enterprise spending, technology considerations, intellectual property rights, etc.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC such as Agile and Scaled Agile, and related areas such as project and program management to effectively collaborate with individuals working in various environments with distinct expectations.
  • Knowledge of one or multiple tools such as Microsoft Visio or alternatives for UML diagramming, online diagramming tools, Enterprise Architecture tools, and Visual Studio.
