The Senior Release Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering software releases across multiple product lines and environments. This role focuses on scaling tools and processes to strengthen the product platform while collaborating with engineering, product, and compliance teams to improve delivery of software at scale. Ensures releases are planned, coordinated, and executed efficiently, balancing agility with stability and compliance. Partners with cross-functional teams to streamline release pipelines, minimize risk, and enhance the release management lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable, resilient release management framework for multi-product deployments. Define and architect release schedules and dependency mapping to optimize flow and minimize bottlenecks across environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish release criteria and readiness standards aligned with architectural best practices.
  • Oversee the integrity of release processes by managing versioning, rollback, and deployment strategies. Develop and maintain clear documentation for release pipelines to ensure traceability and auditability, while driving the adoption of governance standards to embed security, compliance, and change management into pipeline design.
  • Collaborate in the architecture and implementation of enhancements to CI/CD pipelines, focusing on modularity, scalability, and automation. Partner with technical teams to design and refine environment management strategies, leveraging infrastructure-as-code and GitOps principles. Lead release retrospectives to identify systemic improvements and drive strategic learning, while tracking key metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, success rates, and mean time to recovery (MTTR), etc.).
  • Act as the primary liaison among engineering, QA, product management, and operations teams to coordinate the release process. Provide clear and timely communication to executive and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring transparency on release status, key metrics, and potential risks.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software release management with a focus on Azure DevOps, CI/CD, build and release pipelines, Agile methodology.
  • Extensive experience architecting and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated release management pipelines using GitOps tools such as Flux CD and Argo CD, integrated with build systems across C#, Node.js, Python, and PowerShell environments.
  • Experience in containerization technologies such as Docker and Azure AKS.
  • Experience implementing Internal Developer Portals (IDPs) using platforms like Port.io and Backstage to streamline developer workflows and improve service discoverability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Agile planning tools such as boards, tickets, and test plans - Jira preferred.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $121,116.00 to $151,395.00 Annually. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.

Additional Compensation

This position is eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus.
