Job Title: Electrical BIM Engineer
Location: Queens County, NY
Position Summary:
The Electrical BIM Engineer will assist with the design, coordination, planning, and implementation of electrical construction projects. This position requires strong Revit modeling capabilities along with a solid understanding of electrical systems used in commercial construction. The successful candidate will be highly organized, motivated to develop professionally, and capable of collaborating effectively with engineers, contractors, consultants, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Design & BIM Modeling
- Create, revise, and maintain detailed electrical Revit models and construction drawings for systems including lighting, power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure.
- Coordinate electrical models with architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
- Produce electrical layouts, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and equipment arrangement drawings.
- Assist with preparation and updating of as-built documentation upon project completion.
Engineering & Project Support:
- Provide support to project managers and senior engineers during design reviews, shop drawing development, and technical submittal preparation.
- Assist with material quantity takeoffs, equipment specifications, and product documentation.
- Participate in site visits to verify field conditions, gather project information, and support installation coordination.
Team Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal project teams to address technical questions and clarify design intent.
- Attend coordination meetings and help track RFIs, drawing revisions, project updates, and meeting documentation.
- Collaborate with BIM coordination teams to ensure project models align with company standards and project requirements.
Documentation & Quality Assurance:
- Maintain accurate and organized project records, including drawings, revisions, logs, and correspondence.
- Support QA/QC reviews of BIM models and electrical drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with commissioning activities by reviewing testing documentation and verifying final project records.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the construction, design-build, or electrical contracting industry.
- Proficiency in Revit, including 3D modeling, coordination, and shop drawing production.
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Prior experience working with or for an electrical contractor is a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revizto, and other BIM collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of NEC requirements, electrical codes, and standard construction practices.
- Understanding of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, life safety, and low-voltage applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capable of managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Certifications [note: bold skills and certification are required]:
- 1 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the construction, design-build, or electric
- Strong Revit exp including 3D modeling, coordination and shop drawing
- Electrical contractor experience A+
