LOCATION: New York, NY Hybrid
The Software Analyst will use ESRI ArcGIS Pro and excel to create maps and analyze New York's climate risk to better understand the impacts to DFS regulated entities and the communities it serves. The analysis would inform policy development.
Qualifications
Software Analyst- Studies the software application domain, prepares software requirements, and specification documents. Liaises between the software users and the software developers. Conveys the demands of software users to the developers. Skills include: working knowledge of software technology; computer programming experience/expertise; general business knowledge; problem solving/reduction skills; interpersonal relation skills; flexibility and adaptability.
Senior- 5 - 7 years: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.
5 years of experience geocoding data and programming related to geospatial analysis.
5 years of experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro software
5 years of experience working with large datasets using MS Excel
5 years of experience with sourcing publicly available data for geospatial mapping analysis
5 years of experience working with MS Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software
Bachelor's Degree in GIS related discipline or equivalent
ESRI ArcGIS Pro Associate Certification
Day-to-Day tasks
Source, clean, structure data to import to ArcGIS Pro; analyze data using the ArcGIS Pro includes converting excel to tables, join/relate data, create new feature classes and layers, creating maps, etc.; use MS Excel to analyze and manipulate data, synthesize and summarize findings for briefing memos. Interact/collaborate with DFS staff, and U. Albany climate hazards modeling team.
