Role Overview
This position is for an Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer III with a specific focus on Identity Governance and Administration (IGA). The successful candidate will serve as the system owner for the IGA platform, responsible for its implementation, integration, and ongoing management. This role requires an experienced professional who has previously held system ownership responsibilities and can act as the subject matter expert for all IGA-related functions, including API development, system integrations, and process automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary system owner for the IGA platform, managing the technical roadmap, governance frameworks, and entitlement catalog.
- Manage the full identity lifecycle for all human and non-human entities, including automated joiner, mover, and leaver (JML) workflows.
- Design, build, and optimize role-based access control (RBAC) frameworks to enforce least-privilege principles.
- Define and implement Segregation of Duties (SoD) policies, including conflict detection and remediation.
- Lead periodic access certification campaigns, ensuring completion and documentation for audit purposes.
- Architect and maintain integrations between the IGA platform and other systems using REST APIs, SCIM, and SAML.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architectural diagrams and standard operating procedures.
- Proactively identify, measure, and remediate access-related risks to protect critical assets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and compliance requirements into IGA controls.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers on IGA platforms and practices.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in IT/Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience: 6+ years of direct experience in Identity & Access Management, with a proven track record as a system owner of an enterprise IGA platform. Experience must include platform administration, lifecycle automation, and driving IGA maturity. At least 2 years of experience designing and enforcing SoD policies is necessary.
Technical Skills:- 2+ years of experience building and troubleshooting IGA integrations using REST APIs, SCIM, and SAML.
- 2+ years of scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Python, or an equivalent language applied to identity lifecycle events.
- Proficiency with tools such as Postman for API testing and validation.
- Strong knowledge of identity provisioning standards including SCIM, SAML, OAuth/OIDC, and LDAP.
- Expert-level understanding of identity governance principles and regulatory frameworks such as NIST 800-63, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and HITRUST.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related technical field.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Okta, Microsoft Entra, SailPoint).
- Experience with Okta or CyberArk.
- Experience governing non-human identities (e.g., service accounts, workload identities).
- Previous experience in a healthcare, life sciences, or another large, regulated enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) tools.
