Job Overview

We are seeking a Vulnerability Management Technical Support Engineer to join our cybersecurity team supporting enterprise vulnerability management initiatives across multiple client environments. This is a client-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, strong technical troubleshooting abilities, and hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment and compliance scanning tools.

The ideal candidate will have experience configuring and managing Tenable One, Nessus, TenableSC, TenableWAS, HCL AppScan, and Qualys, along with a solid understanding of vulnerability remediation, compliance standards, and security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate vulnerability and compliance scanning activities with client agencies and internal teams.

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Tenable One, Nessus, TenableSC, scanners, scan jobs, and Nessus Agents.

  • Deploy and support vulnerability scanners and agents, including credential configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Perform authenticated and unauthenticated vulnerability scans for servers, applications, and network devices.

  • Configure and troubleshoot web application security scans using TenableWAS, HCL AppScan, and Qualys.

  • Apply compliance policies, including CIS Level 1 Benchmarks and security audit content.

  • Analyze vulnerability scan results, explain findings, and coordinate remediation activities with stakeholders.

  • Work closely with application development, infrastructure, network, and firewall teams to establish scanning connectivity and resolve issues.

  • Track remediation efforts, coordinate re-scans, and validate vulnerability closures.

  • Generate monthly security reports, remediation dashboards, compliance metrics, and exception tracking.

  • Utilize Linux and Windows command-line tools to configure scanners, troubleshoot agents, and resolve technical issues.

  • Manage vulnerability management tickets, incidents, and requests through ServiceNow.

  • Provide technical guidance on vulnerability management tools, scan limitations, and security best practices.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Tenable One, Nessus, TenableSC, Nessus Agents, and TenableWAS

  • Experience with HCL AppScan and Qualys

  • Strong understanding of vulnerability management, compliance scanning, and security remediation

  • Experience implementing CIS Benchmarks, compliance auditing, and vulnerability assessments

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, firewalls, authentication, and connectivity troubleshooting

  • Experience with Linux and Windows command-line administration

  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITSM/ticketing platforms

  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to interact directly with clients and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise cybersecurity or vulnerability management programs

  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as CIS, NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or ISO 27001

  • Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CEH, Tenable Certified, or CISSP are a plus

  • Experience working in Agile or enterprise IT environments
