Linux Systems Administrator
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to support and enhance a secure, enterprise-level infrastructure operating across both on-premises and cloud-connected environments. This role focuses on system stability, automation, modernization initiatives, and storage integration while maintaining high standards of security and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in enterprise Linux environments, system lifecycle management, container technologies, storage connectivity, and infrastructure innovation initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise Linux Operations
- Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux servers across development, testing, and production environments
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and adherence to security best practices
- Support ongoing infrastructure optimization efforts
System Updates & Lifecycle Management
- Plan and execute operating system updates and patching cycles
- Maintain compliance with security standards while minimizing downtime
- Oversee system lifecycle processes from deployment through retirement
Repository Administration
- Manage and maintain internal software repositories
- Ensure proper synchronization, version control, and content governance
- Support secure distribution of packages across environments
Container Platforms
- Deploy and maintain containerized workloads using Docker
- Manage container images, enforce security controls, and optimize performance
- Troubleshoot and support container-based applications
Storage & Connectivity
- Configure and maintain iSCSI storage integrations
- Manage multipathing and LVM configurations
- Perform storage performance tuning in collaboration with infrastructure teams
Infrastructure Innovation & POCs
- Design, execute, and document proof-of-concept initiatives
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide production-ready recommendations
- Develop transition strategies for successful implementation
Incident & Service Management
- Track, update, and resolve incidents within the IT service management system
- Ensure timely communication and resolution of infrastructure-related issues
Technical Environment & Required Experience
This role operates within a mature hybrid infrastructure that includes both on-premises virtualization platforms and cloud-integrated systems.
Hands-on experience should include:
- Enterprise Linux distributions (multiple variants preferred)
- Repository management tools (such as Pulp or comparable platforms)
- Docker and container technologies
- iSCSI, LVM, and multipathing configurations
- System services management and secure remote access (SSH)
- Bash and/or Python scripting
- Configuration management and infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
Work Schedule & Location
- Must be available during standard Eastern Time business hours
- Flexible scheduling options available
- Occasional after-hours support may be required
- Fully remote position with optional access to office workspace
