Role OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on, customer-focused Onsite IT Support professional to support approximately 75 users across three manufacturing sites. This role is site-based in Alexandria, LA with monthly travel to Diboll, TX and Hope, AR.
The ideal candidate is approachable, honest, and technically capable without being overly theoretical-someone who can clearly explain what they are doing and why, works well in plant environments, and builds trust with end users.
This is a contract-to-hire role intended to replace an existing onsite support resource.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnd User & Site Support- Serve as the primary onsite IT presence in Alexandria, LA, supporting end users across three sites
- Provide hands-on end user support (hardware, software, peripherals, printers, mobile devices)
- Deliver a high-touch, customer-facing support experience, clearly explaining actions and solutions to users
- Support onboarding, user induction, and guidance on incident/request creation and knowledge base usage
Infrastructure & Networking Support- Act as the local point of contact for network and infrastructure support (switches, routers, access points, servers)
- Provide "hands and eyes" support for managed service providers during planned and unplanned events
- Support basic network infrastructure troubleshooting; Fortinet experience is a plus
- No programming or development required - focus is on operations and support
Manufacturing & Plant Environment Support- Support IT systems in a manufacturing environment (formaldehyde industry experience preferred)
- Adhere to site-specific safety and plant requirements when working onsite
- Support operator-side systems and field devices where applicable
Multi-Site Travel & Coordination- Travel approximately once per month to:
- Diboll, TX (~2.5 hours)
- Hope, AR (~3 hours)
- Mileage or travel time accommodated per policy
- Coordinate local vendors and third-party suppliers as needed
Asset, Inventory & Telecom Support- Manage local IT inventory, asset hand-out/collection, and CMDB updates
- Support IT procurement requests, invoice queries, and non-standard item selection
- Support mobile, voice, and data services (ordering, provisioning, de-provisioning)
- Coordinate with local telecom and wireless providers
Projects & Continuous Improvement- Participate in site IT projects, enhancements, and compliance initiatives
- Act as the IT liaison between business users, IT leadership, and vendors
- Support change management and user communications related to IT services
Required Experience & Skills- 3-5 years of hands-on IT support experience (flexible for strong aptitude and learning ability)
- Strong end-user support and customer-facing experience
- Comfortable working in manufacturing / plant environments
- Practical experience supporting:
- Windows workstations and peripherals
- Local network infrastructure (basic routing/switching concepts)
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users
- Strong learning aptitude - candidates who are curious and pick things up quickly succeed here
- Willingness to travel monthly to regional sites
Nice to Have (Not Required)- Fortinet firewall or network equipment exposure
- OT / IoT device configuration experience
- Experience supporting operator-side systems or field-deployed devices
- Wi-Fi troubleshooting in industrial environments
- Familiarity with real-world software deployed to devices in the field
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
