Summary

Job Description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Network Engineer - Senior to work in our Norfolk, VA office.
  • Planning: Conducts short and long-term planning to meet network requirements
  • Network System Design and Implementation: Designs and implements network systems
  • Strong working familiarity with F5 Networks, Juniper JUNOS and/or Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls
  • Network Connectivity: Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues for the user community
  • Network Installation: Plans and monitors the installation of network systems
  • Network Monitoring: Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves network problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance
  • Capacity Planning: Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies. Develops capacity planning models
  • Disaster Recovery: Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met
  • Network Performance Assessment: Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to management

  • Vendor Management: Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes
  • Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, Solarwinds, Wireshark, Websense, MRTG and NMAP
  • Knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, VPN, and NAC
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SAWS staff and the general public
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required


Required Skills

  • 8+ years minimum network engineering experience
  • 4+ years experience with technical work in a DOD environment
  • 4+ years experience in an enterprise network environment with both administration and problem resolution of F5, Juniper and/or Cisco solutions required
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience adhering to them in a production environment
  • Knowledge of DoD standards and compliance (ie STIGs, Retina report output)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), F5 Certified Administrator -Security+ certification per DoD 8570 policy compliance


Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Cisco SRND/SAFE and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Redhat Ansible
  • Familiarity with network, server, storage virtualization, i.e. MDS switching infrastructure, VSAN, VRF, VPN, and VMWare vSphere
  • Experience with Juniper products to include: M/MX-series, EX, and SRX
  • Experience with Cisco enterprise grade products to include: Nexus 7000, 6500, 4500, ISR G2, ISR, ASA, IPS/IDS, TACACS+, and Radius
  • Advanced knowledge of IOS, JUNOS, NX-OS, MPLS, BGP, GRE, IPSec VPN, and OSPF.
