Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a Senior Splunk Engineer to support a centralized enterprise logging project. This role involves onboarding numerous systems and data sources to Splunk to enhance operational efficiency. The successful candidate will utilize Splunk for operational monitoring and troubleshooting, support log onboarding and validation, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure reliable data ingestion and effective alerting.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboard network, cloud, server, and application data sources to Splunk.
- Create, execute, and optimize searches using advanced Search Processing Language (SPL).
- Design, build, and optimize Splunk dashboards and alerts to provide actionable insights.
- Manage Splunk Technology Add-ons (TAs) for data onboarding, normalization, and Common Information Model (CIM) alignment.
- Conduct data onboarding tasks including source type design, field extraction, and index strategy.
- Support alerting workflows and collaborate with teams to ensure reliable data ingestion.
- Lead technical workshops and explain complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 8 years of hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud.
Technical Skills:- Advanced proficiency in SPL, including writing efficient searches using commands like stats, timechart, eval, lookup, transaction, and data model commands.
- Experience in data onboarding, including source type design, field extraction (regex, props.conf, transforms.conf), timestamp recognition, and line breaking.
- Experience with the Common Information Model (CIM) and managing Splunk Technology Add-ons (TAs).
- Ability to design and build KPI-driven visualizations, real-time and scheduled alerts, and threshold or anomaly-based detections.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native log sources.
- Experience with security tools such as EDR, IAM, firewalls, or IDS/IPS.
- Familiarity with Splunk Cloud FedRAMP.
- One or more Splunk certifications (e.g., Architect, Admin, Certified Consultant).
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $48.00/hour to $58.00/hour. Please note that the exact compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and qualifications.
