Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer for a contract opportunity supporting architectural and design services projects in Spokane, WA. This role is ideal for a senior structural engineering professional with strong analysis, design, seismic code, and multidisciplinary coordination experience.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral part of a collaborative design team and will contribute to complex structural design work for industrial and building projects. This opportunity offers meaningful technical ownership, exposure to multidisciplinary project teams, and the chance to take on lead or sub-lead responsibilities based on capability and project needs.

You will work closely with structural leads, engineers, designers, drafters, and other disciplines in a supportive setting where initiative, sound judgment, and clear communication are valued.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform structural engineering analysis and design for building and industrial projects with limited supervision.
- Develop design concepts and communicate structural requirements through calculations, design documents, and models.
- Apply US building codes, including wind and seismic provisions, to structural design solutions.
- Coordinate with structural leads, engineers, designers, drafters, and other project disciplines.
- Review and check engineering calculations and contribute to quality control throughout the design process.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay Range: $68 to $75 per hour.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: Spokane, WA.
- Candidate home location must be in the USA Northwest Region, including AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, or WY, or Canada.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Perform structural analysis and design for building and industrial facility projects.
- Support structural design documentation, calculations, and model coordination.
- Lead structural engineering scope on medium-sized projects or serve as a sub-lead on larger projects.
- Provide technical oversight, quality review, and guidance to project team members.

- 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Strong foundation in structural engineering principles, practices, and design fundamentals.
- Experience with US building codes, including seismic and lateral design requirements.
- Strong knowledge of wind and seismic analysis and design.
- Ability to independently evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality control and checking work.
- Ability to manage workload, define scope, forecast level of effort, and meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Demonstrated engineering judgment, problem-solving ability, accountability, and initiative.
- Must be located in the USA Northwest Region, including AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, or WY, or Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or MS degree in Structural Engineering.
- Structural Engineer License, SE.
- Experience with semiconductor industrial facilities or general industrial facilities.
- Experience leading medium-sized teams.
- Experience mentoring structural designers, drafters, and junior engineers.
- Interest in advancing workflows, systems, tools, and emerging technologies within the structural discipline.
