Datacenter Engineer

Description Summary

This exciting hands-on role within our Infrastructure team will provide you with the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the firm's growing datacenter footprint. At BAM you will work with some of the smartest and most driven individuals in the industry.

As a Datacenter Engineer at BAM, you will:
Maintain servers, storage appliances, and network switches including orchestrating the replacement of failed components.
Monitor environmental conditions of the datacenter and remediate when we are not hitting our targets.
Plan and execute the deployment of new equipment for datacenter expansion including considerations for power, cooling, network capacity.
Orchestrate and automate our infrastructure to integrate with our DCIM.
Participate in an on-call rotation.
Securely dispose of retired equipment.

To be considered a good fit, you should:
Be an organized, detail-oriented individual who strives for excellence in everything they do.
Be familiar with datacenter infrastructure components including power distribution, cooling systems and datacenter layout techniques.
Understand structured cabling techniques
Be able to manage and terminate fiber optic cables using the standard connectors.
Have experience building computers, replacing components in computers and troubleshooting hardware that seems broken.
Have experience with networks including copper and fiber-based solutions and know how to use testing equipment. (Fluke/Viavi)
Have experience with Jira or a similar ticketing system.
Have software engineer or scripting experience.

Bonus points for:
Experience managing linux systems
Experience managing Cisco switches (CCNA)
Experience with Kubernetes
Electrical/Mechanical background
IBEW Low-voltage training
