JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Systems Engineer II will perform under the direction of the Engineering Solutions Manager in support of network/server infrastructure, software, and support functions. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of technology systems investments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Operational Responsibilities
- Provide day to day system administration of enterprise applications, networking, and hardware.
- Solve complex issues escalated by Help Desk or other staff.
- Assist other Technology Solutions staff as necessary to meet project and Company needs.
- Evaluate and implement creative ideas to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
- Design and implement new applications, technologies, and enhancements to existing applications.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
- Install, Configure, Secure, and Maintain complex network, server and storage systems.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews for modified and new systems.
- Meet with end users to define system goals, identify and resolve system issues.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
- Create systems specifications, diagrams, and documentation for all computing systems and procedures.
- Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certification
- 5-15 years of related experience
- Proven experience in implementing server and/or client software, server and infrastructure hardware, network hardware and basic programming, and other infrastructure type systems.
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Ability to problem solve highly complex problems and develop accurate and useable solutions.
- Highly self-motivated, directed and detail oriented.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to plan, implement, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information and work responsibly with sensitive data.
- Availability and willingness to work extended and/or alternative hours as needed for issue resolutions, deployments, system upgrades.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- High degree of customer service including daily verbal and written interaction with a diverse group of end users.
Information Technology Skills
Required: Deep understanding of Windows server and desktop operating systems and virtualization technologies. Microsoft based authentication systems both cloud and on premises. Industry standard backup systems, virtual server management systems, Storage Attached Networks, network concepts, programming, and hardware, patch management, email security/filtering, proxy, and web security/filtering. Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP and other industry standard protocols. Deep understanding of O365 administration and management.
Preferred: ATM security/network/server design and management. Data network design and management, firewall and IPS design and management, Patch Management, Web server design and implementation. Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP and other industry standard protocols. Direct experience with VMware, ISCSI or other SAN technologies. Experience with advanced disaster recovery techniques and datacenter failover scenarios.
