Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a talented Electrical Engineering Section Manager for its Hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of engineers, including conducting one-on-one meetings, providing performance feedback, and facilitating career development discussions.
  • Help plan and coordinate team objectives in alignment with program and organizational goals.
  • Identify and remove blockers to keep the team productive and mission focused.
  • Support staffing activities, including interviewing and onboarding new engineers.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and mission execution.

Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required. Candidate should have a BS with 5+ years of relevant experience or a MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to balance technical engineering responsibilities (~90% of time) with direct line management responsibilities (~10% of time).
  • Must be capable of reading engineering drawings, electrical schematics, cable/wiring diagrams, and the corresponding work instructions to produce complex assemblies and provide valuable feedback to program leadership
  • Familiarity with requirement decomposition
  • Provide rapid integration and troubleshooting support for system-level integration
  • Experience in electronics integration, test, and troubleshooting
  • Must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and test methods including the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.
  • Knowledge of test procedure development
  • Knowledge of post test data processing
  • Knowledge of environmental testing
  • Knowledge of circuit design - analog, digital, power
  • Organizational skills to document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDP) and support production and test of the avionics
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience in effectively communicating within a team environment, which will include test and manufacturing engineers.
  • Understanding of cost and schedule impacts associated with engineering deliverables.
  • Strong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with an eagerness for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Interest in mentoring, coaching, and team development.

Preferred Qualifications.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • 2+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects
  • Prior experience with direct reports or formal people management responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers
  • Experience with manufacturing and production of avionics components
  • Knowledge of test development to support troubleshooting hardware failures
  • Knowledge of National Instruments Software
  • Experience in a MIL-STD-810 Test Environment
  • Knowledge of ASME and IEEE standards
  • Experience supporting DoD programs related to missile systems, reentry vehicles, or hypersonic technologies
  • Prior work in assembly, integration, or testing of missile systems.
  • Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.
