Job Title: Mainframe Database Administrator (ADABAS)
Location: Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (Preferred) / Remote

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator with strong expertise in Software AG’s ADABAS platform. This role will support a large-scale mainframe environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of critical database systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Administration:
  Manage and maintain 60+ ADABAS databases in a large-scale environment (9TB+ data footprint).
• System Integration:
  Support and maintain integrations across ADABAS ecosystem components including ADABAS Security, Natural, Natural Security, Entire NetWork, AOS, Review, and SQL Gateway.
• Performance Management:
  Monitor, analyze, and optimize performance of ADABAS, Natural, Entire NetWork, and SQL Gateway environments.
• Backup & Recovery:
  Execute and manage database backup, restore, and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Software Maintenance:
  Perform upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance across Software AG products.
• Troubleshooting:
  Diagnose and resolve system issues, performance bottlenecks, and user-related problems.
• Documentation:
  Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
• On-call Support:
  Participate in rotational on-call support as required.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with ADABAS Database Administration (Software AG)
• Proficiency in Natural programming language, Natural One, and Natural Security
• Experience with IBM z/OS environment
• Knowledge of TPX, TSO, and batch JCL
• Experience supporting:
  • ADABAS Security
  • Entire NetWork
  • SQL Gateway
  • AOS & Review
  • CICS Interface

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
• Familiarity with CA Broadcom toolset (Vantage, View, TPX, JCL Check, Sysview, NetMaster)
• Exposure to CICS and related tools (e.g., Intercom)
• Working knowledge of SQL, PL/I (basic maintenance)
• Exposure to Assembler (diagnostic-level understanding)
