As part of TCEQ's Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do .

This position is a member of our Remediation Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Lead complex environmental projects by planning and coordinating all phases of advanced engineering work in accordance with Superfund Section guidelines to protect public health and the environment.
  • Drive impactful cleanups by overseeing highprofile contracts and work orders to achieve corrective action at Superfund sites across Texas.
  • Manage critical remediation efforts ' directing contractors, managing scope, schedule, and budget to ensure timely and effective corrective action at Superfund sites.
  • Contribute to missioncritical initiatives by taking on diverse technical and administrative assignments that support the Superfund program's success.
  • Ensure fiscal accountability by conducting timely and thorough reviews of invoices in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Serve as a key liaison and agency representative ' collaborating effectively with internal teams, the public, contractors, and governmental partners, and representing TCEQ with professionalism at technical meetings and seminars.
  • Maintain operational excellence by ensuring accurate database updates and wellorganized project files for compliance and efficiency.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with remediation systems/remedial design (e.g., design, hardware components, equipment, construction, and operation).
  • Experience working with Superfund statutes and regulations.
  • Experience with project management, work orders/contracts, and/or budgets.
  • Experience working with technical and regulatory material, procedures, and/or policies relevant to contaminant remediation and/or Superfund.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Engineer I: Texas Professional Engineer's license

  • Engineer II: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus one year of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer I.

  • Engineer III: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.

  • Engineer IV: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus three years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer III.

  • Engineer V: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus four years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer IV.

Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

WORK SCHEDULE

Standard business hours are MF, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Remediation Office.
