Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) with strong hands-on expertise in aluminum casting and machining processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with suppliers to ensure quality, resolve manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement across High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC), Low-Pressure Die Casting (LPDC), and machining processes.

This is a 100% onsite position in Wisconsin, requiring close collaboration with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and internal quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality activities for aluminum castings and machined components.

  • Provide hands-on expertise in HPDC and LPDC aluminum casting processes.

  • Evaluate and improve supplier manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

  • Drive APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and related supplier quality activities.

  • Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and regular onsite supplier visits.

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve supplier quality issues using 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Action methodologies.

  • Analyze casting and machining defects, including dimensional, porosity, leakage, surface, tooling, and process-related issues.

  • Work closely with suppliers to develop and implement process improvements and preventive actions.

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, inspection requirements, and quality standards.

  • Support new product development, launch activities, and production part approvals.

  • Monitor supplier performance through PPM, delivery, quality, and corrective-action metrics.

  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and suppliers to identify and implement continuous improvement and cost-of-quality initiatives.

  • Ensure suppliers maintain robust process controls and meet customer quality requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for complex casting and machining quality issues.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5–25 years of Supplier Quality / Manufacturing Quality experience, depending on seniority.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Aluminum Die Casting.

  • Must have experience with both HPDC (High-Pressure Die Casting) and LPDC (Low-Pressure Die Casting).

  • Strong experience with machining processes for aluminum cast components.

  • Experience with supplier development, supplier audits, and corrective actions.

  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and 8D.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection reports.

  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in Wisconsin and travel to suppliers as required.
