Job Title: Technical AI Product Owner
Location:New york,NY
Contract: 6+ Months
W2 role
Next Best Action (NBA) Platform
This role will own product direction for a broad, fast-moving personalization platform, translating business goals into clear priorities, epics, and stories across multiple engineering teams. This role will need a working understanding of the platform's architecture and how the solution fits together — data, streaming, decisioning, rules, orchestration, and the business-facing interface — in order to know what work belongs to which team and how to break it down correctly. This role will use Claude and other AI tools as part of daily productivity, and will need to be comfortable with the underlying technology and architecture rather than treating it as a black box.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and prioritize the product backlog for a broad platform spanning multiple functional areas, translating business objectives into epics, features, and stories.
• Maintain a working understanding of the end-to-end solution — data, streaming, decisioning, rules, orchestration, and UI layers — well enough to know what a request actually requires and which team owns it.
• Break down broad or ambiguous business asks into well-scoped stories mapped to the right engineering team, avoiding hand-offs that create rework or confusion.
• Write clear acceptance criteria and definitions of done that engineering teams can execute against without excessive back-and-forth.
• Partner closely with engineering leads across teams to sequence work, manage dependencies, and keep delivery aligned with the roadmap.
• Use Claude and other AI tools directly as part of day-to-day work — drafting stories, analyzing requirements, exploring the codebase or documentation, and speeding up planning and decision-making.
• Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and progress clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Continuously refine the backlog as the platform expands into new use cases and business areas, keeping scope realistic against team capacity.
• Represent the voice of the business in sprint planning, reviews, and roadmap discussions, while staying grounded in what's technically feasible.
Core Skills
• Strong product ownership fundamentals — backlog management, story writing, prioritization, stakeholder communication
• Solid technical fluency — able to read architecture diagrams, follow technical discussions, and ask informed questions about data, streaming, ML, rules, or orchestration components
• Practical, day-to-day use of Claude (or comparable AI tools) to increase personal productivity and speed up planning, documentation, and analysis
• Ability to map business requirements to the right team and component in a multi-team, multi-layer architecture
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and turning broad, loosely defined asks into scoped, actionable work
• Clear written and verbal communication across both technical and non-technical audiences
Typical Experience
• 4+ years of product owner or product manager experience, ideally on a platform with multiple integrated technical components
• Demonstrated experience working directly with engineering teams across different technical domains (e.g., data/ML, backend services, front-end/UI)
• Hands-on comfort with AI tools as part of a personal workflow, not just occasional or superficial use
• Experience in personalization, marketing technology, or decisioning platforms is a strong plus
• Healthcare, insurance, or other regulated-industry experience is a plus but not required
• Experience operating in a large, multi-team program where work must be correctly routed across teams
