The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and training of wire and cable manufacturing processes, efficiencies, and standards. This role also assists with the implementation and training of ERP systems and new equipment within the facility.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop and document new products in collaboration with the Design Engineering team for Datacom and other specialty products.
  • Manage scrap data analysis, including sortation, evaluation, and development of accuracy procedures.
  • Process samples for wire and cable components and troubleshoot identified issues.
  • Implement and document new processes from prototype through full production.
  • Collaborate with other Process Engineers on process improvements.
  • Improve the quality of existing Datacom and Specialty products.
  • Compile and present Six Sigma data for data communications and specialty product lines.
  • Work with design and manufacturing teams on new equipment initiatives.
  • Support high-profile manufacturing products and establish process guidelines.
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives through innovation.
  • Train quality and manufacturing personnel on best practices.
  • Develop new tooling to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the point person for Phase 2 of Axiom in partnership with IT.
  • Work with IT to develop and implement plant-wide barcoding within Axiom.
  • Provide onsite support required for system setup and configuration completion.
  • Support activities in compliance with ISO Quality System procedures.
  • Participate in Lean/6S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with special process improvement projects (e.g., setup and training for gravimetric blenders).
  • Work collaboratively with peers, supervisors, managers, and all Marmon IEI employees.
  • Perform other related projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience (Preferred):
  • 6 years of process engineering experience in wire & cable manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Six Sigma/Lean experience highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge & Skills (Preferred):
  • Hands-on wire and cable manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ISO standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of extrusion processes.
  • Experience with various polymeric materials is a plus.
  • Ability to perform complex arithmetic, statistical analysis, and related mathematical applications.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Solid IT proficiency within shop-floor applications.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and product specification processes.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong multitasking and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment.
  • Must follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and operate machinery.
  • Must be able to work in high-temperature areas.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing at least 50 lbs.
