Job Title: VOIP Engineer (Cisco to Microsoft Teams Migration)

Location: Gahanna, OH
Duration: 12+ Months (initial 6 months, extension expected)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to support a large-scale Cisco Unified Call Manager to Microsoft Teams Phone migration. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in VoIP systems, SBC technologies, E911, call recording systems, and Teams Direct Routing, along with hands-on migration and troubleshooting experience in enterprise telephony environments.

This role requires deep technical execution capability along with strong stakeholder coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

Teams Phone System Configuration & Migration

• Configure and enable:

  • Microsoft Teams Phone System

  • Calling plans and policies

  • Number assignments

• Perform coordinated user cutovers from Cisco UC to Teams in migration waves.

• Configure:

  • Teams call queues

  • Auto attendants

  • Voicemail

  • Routing policies

• Support coexistence scenarios during phased migrations.

SBC & Direct Routing

• Work with Session Border Controllers (SBCs) (AudioCodes / Ribbon / Oracle).

• Configure and test Direct Routing integrations.

• Identify and troubleshoot:

  • SBC routing issues

  • Teams policy conflicts

  • Device registration failures

Cisco Voice & Infrastructure

• Strong hands-on experience with:

  • Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM)

  • Cisco UCS

  • SIP trunks and voice gateways

• Reconfigure or decommission Cisco voice components post-migration.

• Update:

  • Routing tables

  • Dial peers

  • E911 configurations

  • Failover paths

Telephony & PSTN Management

• Coordinate with carriers for:

  • Number porting

  • PSTN transitions

• Migrate and validate:

  • Analog lines

  • Specialty lines

  • Gateways / intercom / paging systems

• Strong experience with E911 configurations.

• Experience with Nice call recording systems.

Troubleshooting & Production Support

• Provide L2/L3 troubleshooting during pilot and mass migration phases.

• Resolve escalations related to:

  • Call quality

  • Dropped calls

  • Network dependencies

• Monitor call flows and voice performance metrics.

Documentation & Governance

• Create detailed:

  • SOPs

  • Migration runbooks

  • Rollback plans

  • User guides

• Ensure proper documentation for support handover.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience with Voice / VoIP management tools and processes.

• 3+ years managing large-scale Cisco Call Manager environments.

• Strong expertise in:

  • Cisco Unified Call Manager

  • SBC technologies (Oracle preferred)

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

  • E911 systems

  • Nice call recording systems

• Good knowledge of Cisco UCS.

• Strong networking fundamentals.

• Experience with enterprise telephony migrations.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
