Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior DB2 Database Performance Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in IBM DB2 database development, SQL performance optimization, and stored procedure development. This role focuses on improving database performance, optimizing complex SQL workloads, and refactoring existing database logic while ensuring high availability and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries for maximum performance.
• Develop, maintain, and refactor DB2 stored procedures.
• Identify database bottlenecks and implement performance improvements.
• Review execution plans and recommend query optimization strategies.
• Optimize indexes, statistics, and database objects.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application database performance.
• Troubleshoot production database performance issues.
• Support database design, tuning, and optimization initiatives.
• Follow database development best practices and coding standards.
• Participate in performance testing and root cause analysis.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of IBM DB2 database development experience.
• 8+ years of SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
• 8+ years of DB2 stored procedure development (SQL PL).
• Strong knowledge of Explain Plans, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
• Experience with database performance troubleshooting and optimization.
• Excellent SQL programming and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience rewriting stored procedures using Scala.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale databases.
• Banking or Financial Services experience is a plus.
