Title: Development Manager

Salary Range: $130-160k
Summary
The Development Manager leads a team of application developers responsible for designing, engineering, and supporting both in house and integrated third party applications. This role ensures that solutions align with business needs, follow secure development practices, minimize technical debt, and meet operational standards. The position partners closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architecture, information security, and product teams to deliver high quality applications while fostering a high performing development organization.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior leadership, enterprise architecture, and information security to execute technology roadmaps and adjust plans as business needs evolve.
Work closely with business stakeholders and Product Owners to gather requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications.
Manage and mentor a team of software developers, ensuring the team maintains modern skills, follows best practices, and delivers high quality solutions.
Create strategies for developing and retaining top talent, including training, performance management, and annual evaluations.
Provide hands on code reviews and technical coaching; accelerate delivery when needed.
Partner with Product Owners and the PMO to create technical work breakdown structures that support on time, on budget, high quality delivery.
Ensure applications are developed using best practices in coding, source control, documentation, unit testing, and deployment, and are prepared for high availability operations.
Oversee operational readiness by ensuring applications include proper logging, monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
Set standards for analyzing application performance and implementing service improvements.
Coordinate deployments, upgrades, and patches to minimize business disruption.
Research emerging technologies and recommend tools, frameworks, and methodologies that improve development efficiency and solution quality.
Guide developers in identifying inefficiencies, automating workflows, refining code, and delivering new features to enhance reliability and performance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Ten or more years of experience in application design and coding as a software developer or architect.
Five or more years of experience managing application development teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non technical audiences.
Strong understanding of SharePoint development, Windows programming, web development, and mobile application development.
Solid understanding of Agile methodology.
Familiarity with software commonly used in law firms, including Aderant Expert Sierra, iManage, InTapp Open, SAP, and HRIS systems (preferred).
Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and SQL related technologies including SSIS, SSRS, stored procedures, T SQL, master data, data warehousing, and BI tools.
Solid understanding of IP networking, IT infrastructure, Active Directory, information security, and IIS.
Experience with .NET programming, C#, Web Forms, MVC, Java, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, Bootstrap, Web API, Visual Studio, TFS, Android SDK, and ColdFusion.
