Our client, a leader in the aviation industry, is seeking an Enterprise Content Strategist to support an upcoming company intranet content renovation initiative. This role will partner with stakeholders, business units, and subject matter experts across the enterprise to evaluate, reorganize, and improve employee-facing content to create a more intuitive, useful, and employee-centered experience.
The ideal candidate has experience leading large-scale content audits and restructuring initiatives, with a background in content strategy, UX content, intranet experiences, information architecture, or enterprise communications.
This is a long-term contract opportunity offering benefits, with a hybrid schedule based in Chicago, Illinois. Compensation ranges from $60-70 per hour depending on experience.
Responsibilities: - Lead content discovery sessions and stakeholder conversations across business units to understand content needs, ownership, and priorities.
- Audit existing content to assess accuracy, usefulness, duplication, relevance, and employee value.
- Recommend content actions including retaining, updating, rewriting, consolidating, archiving, or removing content.
- Translate business requirements and SME input into clear, employee-centered content strategies and recommendations.
- Develop content briefs, page outlines, content hierarchies, governance recommendations, and content restructuring plans.
- Write, edit, restructure, and organize content while establishing standards for clarity, tone, naming conventions, and structure.
- Partner with Design teams on information architecture, navigation, page structure, content flow, and employee experience.
- Support stakeholder review cycles and help drive alignment on content decisions.
- Identify content ownership gaps and recommend scalable governance practices.
- Partner with project management teams to support prioritization, sequencing, and stakeholder readiness.
Required Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in Content Strategy, Enterprise Communications, UX Writing, Content Design, Information Architecture, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting enterprise intranet initiatives, content modernization efforts, digital transformations, or large-scale content reorganizations.
- Strong writing, editing, content structuring, and information architecture skills.
- Experience auditing and improving large volumes of digital content.
- Understanding of user-centered content principles, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA), and plain language best practices.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration experience.
Preferred: - Experience supporting employee experience, internal communications, intranet modernization, knowledge management, or digital workplace initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits: - Hours: 40 hours per week
- Location: Downtown Chicago, IL
- Hybrid Schedule: 1-2 days on site per week
- Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (no H-1B, no C2C)
- Duration: 1 year + highly likely extension
