Title: Mainframe Storage & Disaster Recovery (DR) Consultant (HPE XP8 / BCM)
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Remote (Initial one week onsite in Springfield, IL)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with 7.5 hours per day.

Position Summary
The client is seeking a senior-level storage and disaster recovery consultant to support the configuration and stabilization of an HPE XP8 SAN environment attached to the mainframe.
The current Business Continuity Manager (BCM) configuration was improperly implemented, which has delayed critical DR testing. The consultant will assess the existing setup, complete the configuration, and support disaster recovery readiness.
This is anticipated to be a 3-month engagement.
Project Environment
- Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) XP8 SAN (direct-attached to mainframe)
- HPE Business Continuity Manager (BCM) software
- Mainframe storage replication environment
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current HPE XP8 SAN and BCM configuration
- Identify gaps, misconfigurations, and incomplete setup
- Reinstall and/or properly configure BCM if required
- Configure and validate:
- Continuous Access Journaling
- Primary-to-backup data replication
- Reverse replication (failback capability)
- Snapshot capabilities (if applicable)
- Support and guide Disaster Recovery (DR) testing activities
- Document and clearly translate the technical configuration for client's stakeholders
- Define a sustainable operational model and future-state roadmap
Required Experience
- Deep experience with HPE XP8 SAN or equivalent enterprise storage platforms
- Strong expertise in storage-based data replication and journaling technologies
- Experience with HPE Business Continuity Manager (BCM)
- Mainframe-attached storage configuration experience
- Hands-on disaster recovery testing and failover/failback procedures
- Ability to reverse-engineer and document existing configurations
- Strong communication skills to explain complex storage architecture clearly
Engagement Details
- Estimated duration: 3 months
- ~1 month for configuration remediation
- ~2 months for DR support and knowledge transfer
- At least one week onsite (onsite requirement pending confirmation)
