This is a platform for an engineer who thrives on autonomy, technical mastery, and the desire to leave a lasting legacy on the Charlotte skyline and beyond.

Core Responsibilities
  • System Architecture: Architect and engineer comprehensive electrical systems, including AC power distribution, sophisticated interior/exterior lighting, and critical building support systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Supervise and validate the output of Electrical Designers, ensuring every technical deliverable meets the firm's rigorous standards for quality and precision.
  • Project Integration: Steer the coordination of technical requirements across the project lifecycle, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, code officials, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Advanced Analytics: Execute complex engineering calculations including photometrics, voltage drop, fault current, and energy code compliance to ensure peak system performance.
  • Design Mastery: Design robust power distribution frameworks involving switchboards, transformers, overcurrent protection, and emergency generator systems.
  • Compliance & Certification: Seal technical drawings in required jurisdictions and ensure all designs strictly adhere to NEC, NFPA 101, and NFPA 72 standards.
  • Construction Stewardship: Oversee the transition from paper to pavement by reviewing product submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing diligent field inspections to ensure design intent is realized.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure required with the ability to obtain multi-state comity.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design of commercial, healthcare, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with electrical modeling software (SKM or similar).
  • Communication: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to independently lead project meetings and present technical assignments to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Digital Delivery: Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD to drive BIM-integrated workflows.
  • Specialized Analysis: Experience performing advanced lighting design using ElumTools or Lithonia Visual.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated project management experience and a desire to steer departmental growth.
