Senior Software Engineer, Pricing and Profitability Algorithms

The Pricing and Profitability team sits at the intersection of business strategy, data science, and engineering. We build and operate sophisticated systems that power Wayfair's core pricing strategy, driving sustainable growth and profitability across our global catalog. This team develops high-scale systems that power millions of pricing decisions daily. By integrating machine learning models into production systems, we optimize revenue, margin, and customer value while maintaining a seamless shopping experience.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs to serve real-time ML predictions (e.g., price elasticity, demand forecasting, margin optimization)
• Develop and maintain production-grade data and ML pipelines using modern orchestration tools in a cloud environment
• Collaborate across teams to evolve microservices architecture , ensuring systems are efficient, reliable, and horizontally scalable
• Partner closely with ML Scientists and Data Scientists to translate models into production-ready systems and ensure smooth handoffs from research to engineering
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to track model performance, system health, and key business metrics (e.g., margin, conversion)
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, and actively participate in code reviews
• Explore and drive adoption of new technologies, including Generative AI tools , to improve development, testing, and system analysis practices

We Are A Match Because You Have

• Experience: 10+ years of software development experience, ideally building large-scale distributed systems or data pipelines
• Programming: Strong proficiency in Python , including building and debugging production systems
• Cloud: Experience operating services and pipelines in cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure)
• Data & Orchestration (Preferred): Experience with data warehousing (e.g., BigQuery) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow / Cloud Composer)
• ML Ecosystem: Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools (e.g., Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow)
• Systems Design: Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems concepts
• Databases: Proficiency in both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
