Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Satellite Payload Operations engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, control, and optimization of the satellite payload systems. Your primary duties will include:
- Continuously monitoring the health and status of all payload subsystems
- Performing commanding and configuration changes to the payload as needed to maintain optimal performance
- Analyzing telemetry data and identifying any anomalies or performance degradation, and implementing corrective actions
- Coordinating with the multiple Flight, software, and ground control teams to ensure seamless integration between the payload and bus systems
- Updating procedures and pushing improved automation for operational procedures, checklists, and documentation
This is an operations role, so you must be able to work a rotating shift schedule, including overnight and weekend on-call rotations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, or related technical expertise
- Experience in operational environments requiring 24/7 support
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in satellite payload or spacecraft operations
- Experience with Grafana, AWS services, Cloudwatch, SQL, and Python
- Experience of satellite payload subsystems and their interdependencies
- Proficiency with satellite telemetry and commanding, data analysis tools, and fault management processes
