Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Flink Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Apache Flink development, VM-based cluster operations, and multi-cloud (Google Cloud Platform and AWS) infrastructure and a proven ability to design, deploy, and optimize scalable, fault-tolerant real-time streaming solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain real-time data streaming applications using Apache Flink.


• Build new Flink pipelines and enhance existing jobs for performance, reliability, and scalability.


• Implement stateful processing, windowing, event-time semantics, and checkpointing with exactly-once guarantees where required.


• Optimize job performance including memory management, parallelism, and backpressure handling.


• Deploy, configure, and manage Flink clusters in VM environments on Google Cloud Platform Compute Engine and AWS EC2, including HA configurations.


• Tune JVM and resource allocation for distributed VM-based architectures and troubleshoot cluster-level and job-level issues.


• Integrate Flink with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, S3, GCS, and downstream data platforms such as BigQuery or data lakes.


• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting across Google Cloud Platform and AWS for cost and resource optimization.


• Ensure secure cloud configurations, IAM policies, VPC networking, and participate in resiliency and disaster recovery planning.


• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code for automated Flink deployments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years in distributed systems and data engineering with production ownership.


• 3+ years of hands-on Apache Flink development including stateful stream processing and performance tuning.


• Proven experience deploying and managing Flink in VM-based environments on Google Cloud Platform and AWS.


• Proficiency in Java or Scala for Flink application development.


• Hands-on with Kafka, Pub/Sub, or Kinesis and event-driven architectures.


• Experience tuning JVM-based distributed applications and managing HA clusters.


• Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD for deployments.


• Solid Fink experience building, maintaining, and enhancing build and infrastructure.


• Cloud technology experience across Google Cloud Platform and AWS.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with large-scale, high-throughput streaming systems and exactly-once semantics.


• Knowledge of Kubernetes in VM-backed clusters and Flink on GKE with VM nodes.


• Cloud certifications on AWS or Google Cloud Platform.


• Experience with data lake architectures, BigQuery, and real-time analytics platforms.


• Former American Express experience is a plus.
