Department Profile

Middle Office is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firm's WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for Core Brokerage, one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm. Middle office is a core foundation for Morgan Stanley. It provides the platform with key capabilities to support customer digital journey from opening an account, funding the account, trade and order management, portfolio/balances, and risk management on all digital channels. It also provides the capabilities for Morgan Stanley B2B stock plan business to manage participants lifecycle. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business and product partners to understand the business problem to develop solutions that would mitigate the problem and enhance the customer experience
  • Analyze the business data to formulate appropriate data models and acquire critical data intelligence.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, whiteboarding the solution and effectively communicating the designs to other team members
  • Develop software solutions in a lean-agile methodology to bring the solutions quickly to the partners and improve, optimize, and repeat in an accelerated development cycle
  • Independently manage the delivery of the solutions within the deadline, adhering to the company's compliance and development standards
  • Present the solution to the business/technology stakeholders and the management and communicate the design choices clearly
  • Create technical documentation for the product, business user guide, and other runbooks both for managing the applications and to onboard new users easily
  • Research and learn new technologies quickly and work in parallel balancing the ongoing tasks, research tasks, production support, and mentoring others.

Qualifications - Skills Required
  • Experience in a large FinTech or similar highly regulated and data centric industry
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business data to formulate appropriate data models and acquire
  • Critical data intelligence.
  • 7+ years of software development building distributed systems using any modern programming
  • Languages such as Java, .NET, etc.
  • Python / Shell / Perl scripts for batch processing in Linux/ Windows/ Unix environment
  • Proficiency with Enterprise level database (ex. Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Teradata, DB2, Snowflake) and SQL
  • Expertise in data integration using common industry ETL tools (i.e. Informatica, Python)
  • Extensive knowledge in RDBMS systems such as SAP Hana, Oracle, MS-SQL or Teradata.
  • Experience working in an Agile, Lean, or Kanban environment with a focus on team success
  • Experience debugging or performing issue diagnosis.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Growth mindset, personal excellence, collaborative spirit.

Skills Preferred
  • SAP HANA (or any in-memory database) experience, Kafka messaging and Spring frameworks.
  • Experience in integrating various systems using heterogenous data sources REST/SOAP Services,
  • JMS, Database
  • Experience in Data Modeling, Query tuning, Stored Procedure and NoSQL exposure
  • Control-M, Autosys or any equivalent scheduling software
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
