Job Description
|
BI Engineer:
Work hand in hand with data engineer
Tableau analytics, dashboards and reporting -
P1/P2 incident resolution
Certs nice to have
5050 admin and dashboard and report management - will work with SQL datastage and SAS and business objects
200 dashboards, and 250 workbooks
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise Tableau dashboards and workbooks, including the overall lifecycle management of dashboards and Tableau workbooks

Define and enforce Tableau development standards, naming conventions, performance optimization practices, and reusable template frameworks

Architect scalable data source connections, published data sources, and extract strategies to ensure reliability and performance in the AWS-hosted environment

Conduct peer code and design reviews, ensuring quality and consistency across the development team

Evaluate and drive adoption of new Tableau features (e.g., Tableau Pulse, dynamic parameters, Einstein analytics integration) aligned to roadmap

Own L2/L3 support escalations for complex Tableau incidents including performance degradation, data discrepancies, and environment issues

Lead larger enhancement delivery end-to-end from requirements through deployment, managing scope, timeline, and stakeholder expectations

Drive reduction of high-volume manual work (dataset refreshes, extract modifications, report distribution) through automation and self-service enablement

Maintain and improve the ServiceNow backlog, ensuring accurate classification, prioritization, and throughput reporting

Proactively communicate backlog status, delivery timelines, and capacity constraints to stakeholders and leadership

Support CSAT measurement and improvement by owning stakeholder satisfaction within the Tableau delivery domain

Mentor and coach junior/mid-level BI Engineers, conducting knowledge transfer sessions and supporting skills growth

Maintain comprehensive documentation including runbooks, design standards, onboarding guides, and operational playbooks

Lead workload rationalization efforts — identifying dashboards and workbooks that are candidates for consolidation, retirement, or self-service migration

Required Qualifications

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field

6-12 years of enterprise Tableau development experience, including complex calculated fields, LOD expressions, table calculations, and set actions
-
Advanced SQL proficiency (IBM DB2 and/or SQL Server strongly preferred) for data modeling, performance tuning, and custom queries
-
Experience managing Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration — including permissions, extract schedules, subscriptions, and site management
-
Strong understanding of data modeling principles, star/snowflake schemas, and enterprise data warehouse concepts
-
Proven ability to lead stakeholder engagements, gather requirements, and deliver analytics solutions in regulated environments
-
Experience operating within ITSM frameworks (ServiceNow or equivalent) for intake, prioritization, and delivery tracking
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non- technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare analytics experience supporting health plan (PHP), delivery system (PDS/PMG), clinical quality, or population health domains

Hands-on experience in AWS-hosted analytics environments, including Redshift, S3-based data lakes, or AWS Glue integration with Tableau
-
Tableau Certified Data Analyst or Tableau Certified Architect / Server Administrator certification

Familiarity with BusinessObjects (BoBJ), SAS, or IBM DataStage as part of a broader enterprise analytics
