About the Position: Serves as Chief, Geospatial Section. Supervises and manages the work of four units, to include BIM/CAD, GIS, Surveying, and the Unmanned Aerial Systems Program.

Duties

Help

  • Provides support to all District offices including navigation, operations, civil works, military construction and others.
  • Oversees the formulation of customer deliverables and implements business processes and policies for all units.
  • Distributes costs associated with BIM/CAD, GIS and Surveying functions.
  • Oversees the interfaces with the USACE Information Technology service provider to ensure BIM/CAD/GIS/Surveying/UAS support systems are properly maintained and files are regularly backed-up.
  • Oversees the establishment of District standards and procedures for BIM/CAD/GIS/Surveying/UAS work.
  • Coordinates use of BIM/CAD/GIS/Surveying/UAS services with other elements and A/E Design firms and General Contractors.
  • Supports the coordination of the BIM/CAD and GIS related education and training of district BIM/CAD and GIS users with other supervisors.
  • Prepares the annual and mid-year budgets for section operation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in the following areas: 1) Experience with surveying (such as land, hydrographic and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)), and 2) Experience with geospatial data management utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Additional information

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) one (1) year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years; however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
  • If applicable, returns rights may be negotiated upon selection. If return rights are approved, a return rights agreement/statement of understanding will be required to be completed prior to appointment.
