Defined Software Development is seeking experienced Database Administrator professionals for contract consulting opportunities supporting complex database environments and technology initiatives.
Candidates must currently reside in the state of Florida and be available to work in a hybrid environment.
SUMMARY
The Database Administrator will be responsible for database design, administration, maintenance, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and support across enterprise database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft SQL Server and T/SQL experience, along with experience supporting cloud database platforms, business intelligence reporting, and large-scale technology implementations.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 8+ years of experience working with database management systems, including database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration across multiple platform environments
• 8+ years of experience writing complex and efficient queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions using MS T/SQL
• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including parameters, sub-reports, drill-down technologies, and subscriptions
• 5+ years of experience producing technical documentation related to requirements, specifications, traceability matrices, database designs, or testing
• 3+ years of experience creating and maintaining reports using Microsoft Power BI
• 3+ years of experience administering cloud database platforms, including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and/or Azure Database for PostgreSQL
• Experience performing database backup and recovery and configuring database parameters
• Experience developing or supporting data repositories, data dictionaries, logical data models, and data warehousing requirements
• Strong knowledge of relational database management systems and database architecture principles
• Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills in complex database environments
• Experience reducing query response times and improving application performance through database optimization techniques
• Experience analyzing complex database environments and recommending performance, scalability, availability, and optimization strategies
• Experience supporting high-volume transactional and analytical database workloads
• Experience with performance engineering and database tuning methodologies
• Experience optimizing cloud database resource utilization and supporting cloud cost management initiatives
• Experience aligning application strategies with data security standards and regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale implementation projects
• 2+ years of experience working with Azure DevOps and Visual Studio .NET
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Related work experience may be considered.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure Database for PostgreSQL
• Experience working across multiple database platforms and environments
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience reviewing requirements, testing plans, development plans, and architectural documentation to support successful system implementation
