Telecommunications Systems Engineer

Work Location: Tempe, AZ

Contract: 1+ Years

Qualifications

Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree

At least 5 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction industry

Knowledge & application of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards

Knowledge & application of BICSI design practices

Knowledge & application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements

Experience leading a telecommunications design team

Experience editing design and construction specifications

Experience with start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems

Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for large multi-building projects with multiple phases and design packages

Strong structured cabling design background

Proficiency with Bluebeam

Strong communication skills

Proficiency with Navisworks

Preferred Qualifications (Ideally You'll Also Have)

Bachelor's degree

Professional Engineer (PE) license

BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential

Project management experience

Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms

At least 4 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor industry

Knowledge and design experience with emergency responder radio and Distributed Antenna (DAS) systems

Experience providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others

Other Certifications:

BICSI OSP (Outside Plant)

BICSI RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager)

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Telecommunications Systems Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business.

This position will provide opportunities to:

Lead portions of very large and complex projects as a telecom scope owner

Work with other telecom design professionals and supporting design staff to produce challenging design packages

Coordinate with architects and other discipline engineers / design leads

Interface directly with client counterparts to design facilities that meet their needs

You will work with:

AutoCAD

SmartPlant

Revit MEP

The team creates fully coordinated 3D models across all disciplines (C, S, A, M, E, P, T, I, L).

Through a combination of 3D BIM delivery, construction specifications, and 2D sheets, you will help design:

Outside Plant (OSP) systems

Inter/intra-building backbone distribution systems

Communication room layouts

Rack elevations

Wired & wireless device plans

Cable schedules

All design facets and calculations will be completed in accordance with:

NEC

Applicable TIA standards

Other industry standards

Applicable client or internal specifications
