About the Role

Our client is a leading U.S.-based healthcare software company focused on improving the end-to-end healthcare experience through innovative SaaS products.

They are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of critical systems, drive technical direction, and partner closely with Product to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

What You ll Do

• Lead design, development, and delivery of scalable SaaS applications
• Own systems end-to-end (architecture, development, deployment, and performance)
• Build and maintain backend services using Node.JS, TypeScript, and Express
• Develop modern front-end applications with React and Next.JS
• Design and secure APIs (REST, OpenAPI, OAuth/JWT)
• Partner with Product on roadmap execution, prioritization, and trade-offs
• Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Security, and other teams

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with increasing responsibility
• Experience in a senior/lead role (Lead, Staff, Principal, Architect, etc.)
• Strong background in SaaS product development
• Proven ownership of production systems and delivery outcomes
• Hands-on expertise in:
• Node.js (TypeScript, Express)
• React and Next.js
• API design and security (REST, OAuth/JWT)

Preferred / High-Impact Experience

• Experience building or integrating LLM / AI-driven systems (agentic workflows, RAG, etc.)
• Cloud-native development using AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, Bedrock, Step Functions)
• Cross-functional leadership across DevOps, Security, DBAs, and external vendors

Nice to Have

• Healthcare or regulated environment experience (HIPAA, PHI)
• Performance and scalability optimization (latency, throughput, cost)
• Experience improving engineering standards (testing, code reviews, frameworks)
• Mentorship and team development experience
