New York City Hybrid, 1 day a week onsite $150,000-$190,000 base
A payments release can look healthy on a dashboard while transactions are getting stuck downstream. This role is about making those failures easier to spot, making releases safer, and giving engineers a clear way to recover when a service goes down.
You'll own the AWS platform behind transaction processing and work with payments engineers to decide which signals should trigger an alert, when a rollout should stop, and how the team can recover without adding risk to in-flight payments.
Where you'll make an impact
Make releases safer. Introduce progressive rollouts on EKS, with checks that look at payment outcomes and processing delays alongside infrastructure health.
Make payment failures easier to trace. Build dashboards and alerts for queue backlogs, processing errors, and slow responses from external payment providers.
Improve how the team handles incidents. Lead infrastructure troubleshooting and work with application engineers on recovery procedures for stalled or partially processed transactions.
Build audit evidence into everyday work. Use Terraform, GitOps, and automated checks to make changes traceable and reduce manual evidence collection.
What you'll bring
You've owned AWS and Kubernetes in production, built delivery pipelines, and taken the lead on incidents that affected customers. You're comfortable working across networking, containers, and application dependencies to find the source of a problem.
Experience with payments, trading, or another transaction-heavy environment is useful. So is experience running event-driven systems and troubleshooting queue backlogs or downstream failures.
