Introduction

About SymphonyAI Financial Services

SymphonyAI Financial Services is on a mission to make the financial system safer. We combine more than 25 years of financial crime expertise with advanced AI to help financial institutions detect risk, fight financial crime, and navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

We are reimagining financial crime compliance around connected risk intelligence, agent led workflows, and embedded governance, helping institutions strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and adapt as risks evolve.

About The Role

Complex financial crime programs need more than strong requirements. They need a functional leader who can connect business priorities, regulatory obligations, and product capabilities into a solution that works in practice. That's where you come in.

As an Advanced Functional Consultant, you'll lead business case development, requirements, and functional design for complex client implementations across sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, transaction monitoring, and broader financial crime compliance. You'll guide multiple workstreams, lead workshops with senior client stakeholders, and make informed scope and requirement trade-offs within the agreed engagement.

This is a hands on consulting role. You'll work directly in financial crime platforms to configure, tune, and optimise detection and alert workflows, reduce false positives, and validate outcomes. You'll also shape AI based features and model driven workflows, defining how outputs are evaluated, governed, and embedded into client operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities
Lead business case and design. Build business cases and set the functional direction for complex financial crime implementations across multiple workstreams.
Turn complexity into clear requirements. Lead discovery, process analysis, and requirements traceability, translating regulatory obligations, risk appetite, and operational needs into functional designs and implementation plans.
Own scope decisions. Evaluate requirement and design trade-offs within the contract, manage scope changes, and escalate commercial or architectural impacts when needed.
Configure and optimise solutions. Personally configure, tune, and improve screening and monitoring solutions, including thresholds, matching logic, segmentation, list management, alert workflows, and false-positive reduction.
Put AI to work responsibly. Define functional requirements and validation criteria for AI based detection, alert triage, and investigator workflows, ensuring model outputs are accurate, explainable, and fit for operational use.
Lead client conversations. Run workshops and presentations with senior Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology stakeholders, clearly communicating product capabilities, recommendations, risks, and decisions.
Prove outcomes. Design testing and validation approaches, analyse alert and system performance, and use evidence to improve detection effectiveness, operational efficiency, and client acceptance.
Partner across the business. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Account Management, and Pre-Sales on delivery, product improvements, and new client opportunities.
Strengthen the practice. Create reusable functional assets, tuning methodologies, playbooks, and implementation guidance while mentoring junior consultants and coordinating business analysis across initiatives.

You may be a good fit if you have
8 years or more of relevant experience in fraud, compliance, risk, AML/KYC, sanctions, screening, transaction monitoring, RegTech, or financial crime software delivery.
Deep hands on product experience configuring, tuning, calibrating, and optimising financial crime or screening solutions, with clear examples of work you personally delivered.
Strong functional leadership. You build business cases, lead requirements and design, coordinate analysis across workstreams, and maintain traceability from client need through testing and acceptance.
Financial crime expertise. You understand onboarding, KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, sanctions and PEP screening, adverse media, transaction monitoring, investigations, and SAR/STR processes.
Consulting presence. You can lead workshops, negotiate priorities, manage scope changes, and present product functionality and recommendations to client executives.
Tuning and data skills. You use SQL and data analysis to assess alert outcomes, improve matching and detection logic, and reduce false positives at scale.
Regulatory knowledge. You can translate relevant global and regional regulatory expectations into practical processes, controls, and solution requirements.
Practical AI experience. You have specified AI or model driven features, defined validation criteria for model outputs, and integrated those outputs into client workflows with appropriate human oversight.
An ownership mindset. You lead complex functional work from discovery through UAT and go-live, surface risks early, and balance solution fit, client acceptance, and delivery commitments.

Strong candidates may also have
Experience with SymphonyAI NetReveal, Fircosoft, SAS, or other financial crime platforms.
Experience with model tuning and false-positive reduction across large or complex client environments.
Knowledge of screening data providers such as World-Check (LSEG) and Dow Jones.
Experience with cloud SaaS implementations, fraud detection, or transaction monitoring model tuning.
CAMS, CAMI, ICA, or another relevant AML/CFT certification.
Background in RegTech, Big Four or specialist compliance consulting, or financial crime transformation programs.
Experience creating reusable functional assets adopted across teams.
Curiosity about how predictive AI, generative AI, and automation can improve detection quality and investigator productivity.
