Raytheon is seeking a Senior Product Engineer in the Texas Materials and Process department that is the primary point of contact for all Process and Product Development for production program(s) and/or developmental effort(s). This position works closely with process engineering, as well as all the various engineering disciplines to produce microelectronics used in cutting edge military and defense related hardware. This position will have oversight of the product's assembly from kit to ship and may be involved in the program's life cycle from kick off to contract closure. This role will provide the opportunity to work with some of our senior technical experts and contribute to Raytheon patents, trade secrets, and innovations.

What You Will Do:
  • You will interface with both internal and external suppliers, engineering, and program leadership personnel to develop cost reduction activities, mitigate process defects, and promote effective design choices through statistical analysis.
  • Lead a cross-functional team through design for manufacturability activities to improve producibility of complex RF electronics components and assemblies.

This Senior Product Engineer is in McKinney, TX and the position is onsite.

What You Will Learn:
  • You will have the opportunity to resolve product specific design and process challenges for the advanced sensors group
  • Intimate details of the processes and equipment used to assemble the hardware.
  • Design guidance and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Origination of assembly instructions and the translation of the technical data package to the manufacturing data package.
  • Analysis of product quality and process controls.
  • Evaluation of non-conforming hardware.
  • Qualification of a product to military standards.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience.
  • Materials and process experience with an in-depth knowledge of MIL-STD-883, J-STD-001H, AS9100, RF microelectronics in a production environment.
  • Obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Advanced degree
  • Knowledge of program life cycles and criticality of achieving MRL/TRL requirements
  • Knowledge of DFMA & DPD processes
  • Knowledge of surface mount technology (SMT), adhesives, wire bond, vacuum lamination, conformal coat, and other electronic assembly processes.
  • Experience with running designed experiments (DOEs), statistical data handling analysis.
  • Knowledge of metrology processes to diagnose product specific issues. (CSAM, Xray, FTIR, XRF, SEM/EDS, XPS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of capacity analysis and purchasing of capital equipment to support program needs

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
