Senior SDET to support a small, fast-moving engineering team. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, stability, and visual integrity of complex UI applications. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and deep experience testing modern web applications-both manually and through automation.
This is a hands-on role for an independent, self-directed engineer who can identify subtle UI defects, validate styling behavior, and ensure releases run smoothly across monthly cycles
Key ResponsibilitiesUI & Functional Quality Engineering- Test complex UI applications with a strong focus on detecting subtle layout, CSS, and styling issues (including parent stylesheet impacts).
- Investigate and validate UI "wonkiness" caused by cascading styling or component inheritance issues.
- Perform detailed manual testing to ensure consistent behavior across browsers and environments.
Automation Engineering- Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test suites using modern frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
- Integrate and execute visual regression testing, leveraging Playwright's visual testing capabilities or other tools (e.g., SoftSlaps).
- Build robust test cases, test data, and automated scripts to support regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Release & Execution- Participate in monthly release cycles, including occasional weekend or after-hours deployments.
- Execute test cases, validate results, document findings, and collaborate closely with development teams to resolve defects.
- Ensure applications and third-party integrations behave correctly after code changes.
Required Skills & Experience- 5+ years of SDET, QA Automation, or Software Quality Engineering experience (flexible for exceptional candidates with strong fundamentals).
- Strong understanding of UI applications, front-end behavior, and how CSS/styling changes impact layout.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent automation frameworks
- Visual testing tools (Playwright Visual Testing, SoftSlaps, or other visual diff tools)
- Manual test execution, defect analysis, and end-to-end testing
- Experience writing test cases, generating test data, and executing structured test plans.
- Proficiency in at least one development language such as Java, C#, .NET, or similar.
Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience with WalkMe, including validating overlays, troubleshooting caching issues, or reviewing analytics.
- Exposure to third-party integrations and web application architecture
Soft Skills & Team Fit- Excellent analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail-critical due to the subtle nature of UI defects.
- Ability to work independently, self-manage tasks, and proactively identify quality risks.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with developers and product teams.
