Job Description

This position is for the Chief Engineering Manager - eXtended Range Counter-UAS (XRC) role in the IAMD-AP program area. This position reports to the IAMD-AP Chief Engineer and will provide day-to-day interface with the program manager, program engineering leads, suppliers and customer. This is a high tempo team for an Army development program with an urgent need for the Mobile Short-Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) System. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the Next Generation Short Range Interceptor (NGSRI) team and the entire Advanced Programs staff to ensure synergy across teams and lead/participate in lessons learned communication.
What You Will Be Doing
As the XRC Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Provide technical leadership that drives the team to meet every XRC development and production milestone on schedule.
Execute the program vision by leveraging a common architecture to achieve rapid flight test readiness.
Establish a robust baseline that enables fast development, production, and operational use.
Partner with the NGSRI team on shared components while driving XRC specific element development.
Develop and nurture a productive partnership with the USG customer.
Guide IPT leads and cross functional teams in program planning, scheduling, and trade study execution; as well as design concept development, verification, and critical life cycle reviews.
Assess and ensure program staffing is appropriate from an Engineering & Technology (E&T) perspective.
Lead and support all program technical reviews (Technical Interchange Meetings, Readiness Reviews, etc.) and actively participate other critical program meetings.
Capture and disseminate lessons learned, driving synergy across every work stream of the Chief Engineer organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead rapid configuration development and demonstration to execute capture strategy plans.
Provide technical leadership for design and development efforts, from system level architecture through qualification.
Develop and execute detailed program plans, schedules, and trade study & trade off assessments.
Lead or support customer briefings and weekly IPT status updates; facilitate Technical Interchange Meetings, Technical Readiness Reviews, and other critical program reviews.
Participate in or lead, as appropriate, Failure Review Boards, Risk Management reviews, and Mission Success Reviews.
Support internal, customer, and external stakeholder technical reviews.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical status, issues, and decisions to internal leadership (program, technical, functional) and to the customer.
Experience with technical solutions going from proposal through development including SRR, PDR, CDR, and flight test.
Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a proven ability to lead technical efforts with cross-functional teams.
Shown a strong understanding of Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) principles (technical, people, business, strategic).

Basic Qualifications

Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, and relevant professional experience.
Ability to plan and lead technical efforts
Must be available for occasional domestic travel.
Candidate must have a Secret clearance.

Desired skills

An advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Prior experience at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is preferred.
Strong familiarity with the Army M-SHORAD customer, Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) scenarios, and datalink programs.
Experience in collaborating with the E&T functional organization.
Ability to interface with the USG Customer office and global supply base.
Experience in leading Failure Analysis, Failure Review Boards and root cause investigations.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $139,600 - $246,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
