Summary
IT/OT Network Engineer
Location: Clayton, NC (Onsite 5 Days/Week)
LOA: 12-Month Contract (40 Hours/Week)
Target Start: ASAP
Travel: Up to 10-15% (Domestic and Potential International Travel for FAT, Testing, and Design Activities)
This individual will support the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of enterprise and operational technology (OT) network infrastructure across a greenfield manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting industrial manufacturing environments, working with both IT and OT network devices, and assisting with network deployments from construction through operational readiness. This is a hands-on engineering role supporting everything from core network infrastructure and industrial switches to physical network installations, while partnering closely with automation, infrastructure, and project teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and support enterprise and OT network infrastructure
- Support industrial switches, PLC-connected devices, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, and telecommunications systems
- Perform network configuration loading, validation, and troubleshooting during deployments
- Support MDF connectivity, structured cabling, rack/stack activities, and network hardware installation
- Coordinate with vendors and project teams to maintain network availability
- Create and maintain network documentation and topology diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Support network security initiatives and infrastructure projects
- Provide Tier 1 network support while ensuring systems remain available, secure, and operational
- Participate in occasional after-hours support during project milestones
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of network engineering experience OR 10+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
- Experience supporting IT/OT network infrastructure in a manufacturing environment
- Experience deploying and supporting industrial switches, PLC-connected equipment, and other OT devices
- Strong experience with enterprise networking including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networking, and Layer 1-4 troubleshooting
- CCNA-level networking knowledge with hands-on experience extracting and loading network configurations
- Experience with structured cabling, MDF connectivity, rack/stack activities, and physical network infrastructure
- Experience creating network topology documentation using Microsoft Visio
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Clayton, NC and provide occasional after-hours support
PLUS
- Active CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing facilities or large capital expansion projects
- Experience supporting FAT, commissioning, or manufacturing startup activities
