OverviewWe are seeking a skilled
Cloud Engineer to help design, build, and evolve our cloud platform in a
nearly greenfield environment. This role offers the ability to directly influence cloud architecture, automation strategy, security posture, and cost optimization for a global leader in the heavy equipment and mining technology space.
Key ResponsibilitiesCloud Engineering & Architecture- Design and deliver cloud solutions focused on cost efficiency, security, scalability, and reliability.
- Partner with application teams to ensure deployments align with modern architectural best practices.
- Lead and contribute to a variety of cloud initiatives and strategic decisions.
- Help define and govern cloud standards, cost management practices, and architectural frameworks.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code- Build and maintain automation using Terraform, Bicep, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Design, build, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Develop reusable modules, deployment patterns, and automation from the ground up.
Security & Compliance- Implement cloud security controls using native tooling such as Defender, Sentinel, and Azure Policy.
- Ensure workloads built by various teams adhere to strong cloud security and governance requirements.
- Leverage logging, monitoring, analytics, and diagnostics to identify risks and improve cloud health.
Documentation & Enablement- Create and maintain architecture documents, standards, and policies.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members and foster broader technical knowledge sharing.
Operational Support- Support cloud networking components including DNS, firewalls, NSGs, vWAN, ExpressRoute, and VPN.
- Work with monitoring/observability tools: flow logs, traffic analytics, diagnostics, log management.
- Optional, limited travel between Milwaukee and Tucson.
Required Qualifications- Associate or bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of cloud engineering experience (Azure preferred; AWS acceptable with willingness to transition).
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication with effective cross-team collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cloud Well-Architected frameworks & best practices
- Terraform, Bicep
- Python, Bash, PowerShell
- CI/CD and DevOps tooling
- Familiarity with containers; AKS experience strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications- Cloud network architecture (DNS, firewalls, NSGs, vWAN, ExpressRoute, VPN)
- Logging & monitoring (diagnostic settings, flow logs, analytics, incident response)
- Cloud-native security tools (Defender, Sentinel, Azure Policy)
- Code and infrastructure scanning tools (SonarQube, Rapid7, Wiz.io, etc.)
- Cloud cost optimization experience
- relevant certifications (Azure, AWS, Security+, etc.)

Work Schedule- Milwaukee: Onsite 3-4 days/week
- 9/80 schedule: Work 80 hours over 9 days every other Friday off
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
Benefits: Standard o Benefits eligibility begins on Day 1 of employment. o Retirement savings contributions/matches are immediately vested. o The company matches $0.50 of every pretax and/or Roth dollar you contribute, up to 6% of your pay. You are immediately vested in your contributions and the company match. o Employees receive a fixed company contribution of 5% of pay. All company contributions are immediately 100% vested. o PTO time - full 15 days + 13 holidays
